Namo Buddha and Panauti - 1 Day Tour

Namo Buddha or Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery. It is on the hill top village, about 40 km. (by road) southeast from Kathmandu city. The main attraction of this tour at Namo Buddha is the Thrangu Tashi Yangtse monastery. It lies at the top of the hill in shyampati vdc. It is one of the most beautiful and a center for tourism. The main festivals and mela celebrated here are kartik purnima and Buddha jayanti. History has it that the once a prince name Mahasttva offered oneself to hungry tigress who could not feed several of its cubs. A stone tablet has been there, which is said to mark the place where this history event took place. 

The tour starts with a 2 hours drive to Panauti village. This village is famous for the art gallery of beautiful and fine idols, woodcarving in the temple struts, doors and windows of the temples and monasteries. It is also considered as a holy place and in every twelve years, a great fair known as MakarMela, commonly known as Panauti Mela, is conducted here for a whole month of Magh at Triveni Ghat where several artistic stone idols are places in temples as well as open areas for exhibition and worship. Moreover, a chariot festival of Nama–Buddha is held here every year and according to the legend Mahasatva who later became Nama Buddha was the prince of Panauti.

After Panauti village we have lunch and drive to the wonderful stupa of Namo BuddhaWe will drive back to Kathmandu to end our Namo Buddha Day Tour.
