Everest Region Trek in Nepal

Everest Region also known as the Khumbu. It is a region of northeastern Nepal on the Nepalese side of Mount Everest. It is part of the Solukhumbu District, which in turn is part of the Sagarmatha Zone. Solu Khumbu is justifiably famous, not only for its proximity to the world's highest mountain (8,848 meters), but also for its Sherpa villages and monasteries.

Surrounding Mt. Everest, 4 (Mt. Makalu, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Cho Oyu and Mt. Shishapangma) of the world’s 14 peaks above 8,000 meters stand guard within a sphere of 200 square kilometers. They are escorted by another 38 peaks above 7,000 meters above sea level. Together they form one of the world’s most grandiose landscapes. The Khumbu or Everest region is the most popular trekking area in Nepal. It would probably be the most popular destination, to get near Everest; you must either walk for 10 days or fly to Lukla. In this Everest Region you will find more typical Sherpa villages in  Khumjung, Thami and Tengpoche Monastery.
